Hello readers!
I’d like to use this post a little bit to thank all of you who keep reading this humble blog!
AnimeFriends 2009
Now, for the announcement: I’m taking a bus today on a 7 hour trip to São Paulo, Brazil’s biggest city, to attend an Anime related convention called AnimeFriends. Continue lendo »
Even though it’s been some time since last I posted about ImprovEverywhere, they are still out there doing some very nice social events.
So, here’s another mp3 experiment (number six) by them:
Very nice!
I know it may look kinda weird or even dull to some, but it’s something different and far more productive than other past times nowadays… I wish we had something like that to do sometimes here in Brazil too.
Maybe someday I’ll be in a position to propose stuff like that too… working for some mass media or something. 😀
If nothing else, a social event like those mp3 experiments promotes friendly interaction among strangers, and something that really makes me admire the effort: no racial, gender or age discrimination, even if only for some minutes.
You learn something new/incredible everyday… 😀 Studio Gainax, one of the most sucessful and renowed japanese animation studios (Neon Genesis Evangelion, KareKano, FLCL, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Mahoromatic, Nadia – The Secret of Blue Water), had their start with a couple of videos known as Daicon III and Daicon IV:
They were made as promo for the 22nd DAICON Nihon SF Taikai, an anime and sci-fi event back in 1983. Five years later, in 1988, a Laserdisc version was released and sold for about $200 bucks. But today, if you can find a copy, you’d certainly get at least some $1500 for it.
Actually, because of Copyright infringements Gainax was not allowed to sell it (namely the Playboy bunny girl costume, and the famous music from Electric Light Orchestra), so they bundled it as a bonus with a production artbook.
For those who watched Densha Otoko, now you know where the opening, Minna, and the music from the opening came from. For those who didn’t, DO IT NOW! 😛
The video I posted there is an HD remastered version of the Laserdisc one.
Awesome! Very very awesome! I actually got a little teary eyed… ;_;
Watch out! This might be a little scary for non-otakus! xD
I present you Otakus, marching into one of the most famous otaku events in Japan, the Comic Market held in Tokyo Big Sight!
Some of them are running because Comic Market is one big event where, among other things, limited edition of several stuff is sold. Some of those limited items (think manga, doujinshi, figures and other otaku stuff) are sold out in the first few minutes of the event, so you have to be real quick.
Anyways, I’ve been planning to make more posts about the otaku culture and stuff… but it’s kinda hard to deal with this many things at once, so be patient!
