Monty Python – YouTube Channel

One of the most influential comedy groups of all times, Monty Python (some say they are to comedy what The Beatles were to music), has their own YouTube Channel that distributes their content FREE… and they’ll even let humble bloggers like me embed the videos!

One may argue that it’s because there are already tons of fans doing that, but just take a look at most music videos.
The reaction of most record companies was either to hunt down all uploaded videos and remove them, or allow them to stay as long as embedding was disabled.
So, this post is an announcement that I’m starting a series of Monty Python sketch posts.

And also, a plead: If you like what you see, if you’re a Python fan, if you enjoy the videos, BUY THEIR DVDs!
This is not advertising. When big groups like Monty Python (or Radiohead) gives us a chance to prove them that piracy isn’t completely bad, that it can have a good side, that most of us are not greedy bastards that use piracy only to take advantage of the situation, we have to take the chance and show them.

Piracy makes things accessible to lots of people who can’t afford it otherwise. For those of us who can, we have to buy their DVDs and merchandise, not only because we can, but to show appreciation and recognition to their work. This way, it’s fair to everyone.

Back to Python, it may strike as weird and awkward if you’re watching them for the first time, and I know it’s not the type of humor everyone likes (nonsense), but believe me when I say that, of all comedians in the world today, MOST of them were influenced by this group.

I’m a big fan, and this is my tribute.
