It’s the same technology used on the Playstation 3 Eye and Cyber Figure ARis.
So, despite of the source’s article, the technology is not new.
But this is an interesting application. Dunno how useful this would really be, since it wouldn’t be very interesting to watch a video while holding a magazine against a webcam… but I guess it creates an interesting effect anyways.
I still have to write an article about ARToolkit, the most famous free toolkit to make tests on Augmented Reality. I already tested it, so just need to write the damn thing. 😛
