YES, finally!
Here goes, the first post about AnimeFriends 2008 (the biggest anime convention in Brazil)
Starting with Wednesday, July 16th.
Line…
We left Curitiba at 1am, by bus, 6 hour trip, to get to Sao Paulo, directly to the event, and wait almost 3 hours for the gates to open and the organization to give us our tickets!
Like expected, 1st day was very calm (the event has 5 days).
Though if compared to 4 or 5 years ago, considering it’s the middle of the week, there were lots of people there.
Didn’t waste time, so I got this pic of Negi sensei class while in line waiting for the gates to open!
First stand visited had an incredible collection of “figures” made with… paper!
Incredible! Like several other creations, if you don’t get very close to this EVA01, you can’t tell it’s made of paper.
Crazy people who dig puzzles can buy all the material to assemble the EVA01 with less than 12 bucks.
Some hours later, after I managed to escape the figures stands, a brief pause on the food square.
Notice that this is the emptiest day of the event…
To make some digestion, I went for a walk to take a look at the paintball area.
Maybe I’ll invite the people that came with me for a match Friday. 🙂
In the picture, something like a third of the whole play area.
Right next to it, a big shed(?) with DDR, computers and consoles for the addicted.
And the first cosplay picture goes to a crossover…
Pirates or ninjas?
The stand area is like a shopping or mini-mall.
Each stand has at least the space of a small store.
Some stands took bigger spaces… like 6 small stores.
Mounted windows, balconies with product display, places to try outfits and several other stuff.
Perfect for those who likes to window shop and check the hoodie models and stuff!
Couldn’t identify the cosplays, though they look interesting. Anyone?
Cosplays from Tsubasa Chronicles, as identified by commenters João and Caio!
Fate-stay Fantasy? Or Final-stay night?
Creative … cosplay from One Piece.
And here, the best Sasuke I’ve seen (live) so far! Very nice, huh?
Ok, I’m kinda lost here… Naruto and Persona 3?
I try not to ask cosplayers because they get lots of harass (in a good way).
Even on empty event days, when you ask to take a pic, 3 or 4 other photographers shows up right after.
I took few pics… was very very tired, and to be sincere, spent most of the time selecting the figures I wanted to buy.
This probably will be the event I’ll spend more money ever.
There are so many interesting stuff there you kinda get completely lost.
Glad we came for the whole 5 days… that isn’t too much know that I know how big the event is.
I was tempted on going today too, but I need to go someplace else to compare prices and serch for other figures…
So, it’s gonna be hard to publish the next pics… since I’m only gonna have free time today.
But keep visiting! I’ll try to make it somehow!
