I’ve been posting so many topics about games that sometimes I forget I started the blog to write about figures…

Lucky Star & Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

Back to the roots, I present you: Nendoroids!

A mix of android with dunnolol, it’s a figure series from Good Smile Company (famous japanese figure manufacturer).

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

These figures have a particular characteristic:
They are SD (super deformed) versions… also known as “chibi”, from famouse anime characters.
The main series has about half the size of a normal figure, which is 14 cm approx.

Lucky Star

The series made such a huge success that they made yet another version… Nendoroid Petit, which has the same idea, but the figures are even smaller (Gashapon sized), with same quality, less acessories and cheaper price.

Sumomo Akihime - Nanatsuiro Drops

Is there anything harder than make a selection of the best Nendoroids? They are all so cute…
First time I saw the series, I though it was nice, but didn’t caught my attention too much.

Misa Amane - Death Note

At first look, it seems that those undersized cute versions of the figures ends up “killing” the unique characteristics of the characters. Because they all have the same size and basic stands.

L - Death Note

But with a closer look to the series, you find out that each new release has a great amount of unique stuff to each character. So much that you will want different versions of the same character sometimes.

Saber Lion - Fate/Stay Night

Unlike most normal figures, Nendoroid series (the main one) has included accessories like:
- Different faces with different expressions
- Some unique elements from a particular character… like a personal object
- Exchangeable arms and hands for different poses
And some other stuff.

Asahina Mikuru - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

I remember completely falling in love for the series when I watched the 3D video of Hatsune Miku (and crew) dancing. Heard it was made by a fan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDyUqvp7Uak

Good Smile Company, please hire the guy who made that video!

Hatsune Miku

Funny part is that Hatsune Miku isn’t an anime character (yet)… she’s a mascot for a software called Vocaloid. Someday I’ll write more about it…

Nagato Yuki - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

Of course I still like normal figures a lot… they compose the majority of my collection.
But I learned to like these funny little cute versions too, and decided to make this post, with my favorites.

Suzumiya Haruhi - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu

I know that in Brazil, figures are not very cheap… we have shipping costs, importing taxes, very few stores are willing to get those to sell.
And it’s not like, for instance, a barbie doll or a teddy bear.

Yoko Ritona - Gurren Lagann

Creation of them require lots more attention and care for details… people who collects them are extremely exigent.
But I believe that, for anime fans, these make great gifts. And since there are so many types of them, you can fit several tastes and $pockets$.

Binchou-tan - Binchou-tan

Reasons to buy a figure goes from “because I love the anime”, to “because it’s cute”.

Melissa Seraphy - Wagamama Capriccio

Some owners use to display and decorate, others play with them, some use as model to pics, some make jokes and stories, and there’s even some that… well… use them for less ortodox ways…

Pastel Ink - Moetan

But alas, enought with the chit-chat, here’s the rest of the pics!
