Team Fortress 2 – Donkey Kong

The pl_donkeykong_final custom map for Team Fortress 2 isn’t just a half done tribute… it’s a fully functional payload map in which Mario is the cart, and the final objective point is, obviously, the top. (lower the volume and ignore the overblown sounds)

It even has mario footstep sounds!
I think the only thing this needs, though this probably goes way over the capabilities of modding, a barrel launcher for the defending team, some sort of powerful weapon to replace the hammer, and background music. :D
Still, an amazing work that goes several steps above your usual tribute mod!

Doom Megaman

CutmanMike offers this nostalgia shake for oldschool gamers:

Megaman: 8-bit Deathmatch is a cross over between classic FPS Doom, what seems to be a Quake engine and classic 8-bit NES platformer Megaman.
But not only that, it also implements deathmatch mode featuring tons of classic megaman characters in a brawfest!
Very awesome!

Back to the Future – Delorean Time Machine Crysis Mod

Very awesome Back to the Future Delorean mod for Crytek’s Crysis made by Tirido, video posted by YouTube user hazaro.

For greater effect, you should watch the TubeDubber or YoutubeDoubler mix version with Back to the Future’s soundtrack, as pointed out by the owner!
Even has the car sounds and stuff… loved it!
Mod is available at CryMod’s post for DeLorean Time Machine.

Dino D-Day (HL2)

Dino D-Day is a Half-Life 2 free mod released as prototype to an upcoming full comercial game that will be released next year.

World War 2 fiction, the axis is using dinossaurs as weapons agains allies!
Kinda confusing, but basically it means you can play this mod for free if you have Half Life 2, and can expect for a full story with full game with Dino D-Day as a part of it next year.
Designed by Abe Scheuermann, you can check more info on it at ModDB’s official Dino D-Day post!

Mood Tail

A WiiMote (Wii Nunchuck) mod to create a tail… yes, a tail that reflects it’s user’s mood:

Apparently, it could even help mutes or furries who don’t know the human language to express it’s feelings… :P
Created by Wei-Chieh Tseng, seems to be based on a cat’s tail (judging by the reactions), and it uses a Wii Nunchuck, RFID cards and other tech gadgetry.

iPhone ARider

That the iPhone is a big platform for modders and is spamming a huge amount of useless… speaker mounts, tripods, and useless acessories I’m already aware.
But sometimes it gets ridiculous!

The iPhone ARider is a bike helmet mount with HUD display to help you navigate using the iPhone’s GPS.
I imagine though, having a standard GPS mount on your bike handle would be a far better solution, and it probably wouldn’t be as accident prone as having a HUD popping in front of your eyes… but maybe it’s just me.
Nonetheless, I’ll wait for helmets with Augmented Reality visors.

Big Mouth Billy Bass Twitter Mod

If you never heard of Big Mouth Billy Bass, it’s basically what looks like a dead fish in a trophy stand that sings and “dances”… very funny “toy” for fishermen to hang on their boats or at the top of a fireplace.

But Big Mouth Billy Bass just got even funnier, with Steve Ravet and crew modding it to reproduce Twitter updates!
The mod started with being able to insert an SD card with .wav files, made by Dan Ros. The result you see on the video above.
But then, the mod evolved and a voice synth was added so the fish could speak Twitter updates!
Now it won’t shut up! Just kidding…
Anyways, you can check more info about it at mbed @ ESC Boston homepage.
Back to the video, I could identify Homer Simpson, Bill Clinton, George Bush and several Monty Python quotes (inexplicably missing the surreal Find the Fish sketch). Awesome!
