A slightly improved version of the Final Fantasy Cockatiel videos!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00cSfnTIJ3U

Video edition by yours truly.

The idea came to me when I was writting the post with the Cockatiel vs Chocobo video, which I found on some Kotaku post’s comments.
Original videos and the animated gif that inspired me are there.

Oh, and Cockatiel’s Victory Fanfare:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCLIg6WT7zM

During research, I also found this video from TehAznLife:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uM7sdWS0i4

Original plan was to make an even more enhanced version: Battle sound effects, game sprites (for can damage), battle menu with “Chocobo Can” as enemy, death animations and some World Map Chocobo running as intro.

Problem was that after hours searching, I couldn’t find the proper sprites, sound effect files and fonts… and it’d take too long to make an extraction process and edition using Photoshop and stuff.

Maybe I could do a better job if I had the game modding skills of this guy who hacked the game to include a Weegee Boss Battle (ROFL):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC7LWgQRPTA

I decided to simplify things and do the edition as fast (and simple) as I could… I have this bad habit of abandoning projects that takes too long to complete.

I chose Final Fantasy III music because, well, it’s my favorite soundtrack (yeah, I’m an oldschool gamer).
Source of music:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jWGJ-Z-Bik

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGMfIuZi86w

But if my edition didn’t meet your expectations, I’m shure some insane japanese Final Fantasy fan will do (or has already done) something WAY better… xD

Non-Linear Edition made with Sony Vegas Movie Studio.
If you’re interested in making something similar, or improving this version, feel free to ask questions in the comment area!

Nice eh? The interesting part – the video posting dates back to 2007! o_O
Thing is, as you probably imagine, realistic rendering doesn’t translate to game rendering… but recent games are getting close to that level of detail nowadays.
Still, it’s the same old debate: What’s the use of realistic graphics in games that aren’t fun to play.

Oh, if you wanna have some fun just go to the YouTube video page and read the comments… yet another useless discussion about PC games versus console games. pft.
