Machine Girl (Gore)

9 07 2009

If you never heard of japanese B-rated gore movies, you are missing a big part of the new japanese cinema… xD

Noboru Iguchi is sort of the new japanese Tarantino, though maybe this title is already taken by another famous japanese gore movie director: Takashi Miike.

Kabuto Mushi – Beetle Battles – Mushiking

9 07 2009

Dunno if this is still on, but some years ago a game called Mushiking spawned a new trend in Japan and some other asian countries: Adopting stag/rhinocerous/scarab beetles as pets!

Here’s a video taken with the iPhone 3GS made by Danny from DannyChoo.com

SOUR – Omokage no Saki

8 07 2009

I’m not too much of a j-pop/ j-rock fan (though I do listen to lots of anime music), but SOUR has some incredible music videos:

Omokage no Saki (Beyond your Memory) uses stop motion with this interesting idea of otherwise bothersome earphone cables becoming alive with music.

Samsung – Zipel Fridge

8 07 2009

Fridges are boring. Even if they do have double doors, instant freezing and other technological stuff.
So, what can you do to make a fridge ad interesting? Well, it seems Samsung has the answer to that:

Dunno why they wrapped the lady in flower bouquet paper though… :P

SOUR – Hibi no Neiro

7 07 2009

I’m not too much of a j-pop/ j-rock fan (though I do listen to lots of anime music), but SOUR has some incredible music videos:

Hibi no Neiro (Tone of Everyday) is a collaborative video made with fans of the group… very nice!

Meguro Gajoen – Let’s Visit Tokyo 11 – AkihabaraNews

3 07 2009

From blog AkihabaraNews, a series of tokyo video tours that I’m a fan of!
Meguro Gajoen is, according to source, Tokyo’s oldest hotel… “ryokan” actually.
It has an open exibition hall that changes from time to time with traditional japanese art.

Along with DannyChoo’s Photo Walks, the objective is to show some sights of Japan that we usually don’t get.
And I bet some of these sights will show better why some people like Danny and Daimaou got “enchanted” by Japan, ultimately deciding to move there… and also the reason why I’d also like to move to Japan someday. :D
Huge help from Daimaou and Danny’s great skills for capturing the essence and beauty of those places (in details), of course. xD

Fiat Cinque Tank

2 07 2009

Japanese ironsmith Kogoro Kurata used a Fiat 500 body to create this custom bulldozer:

Yeah, kinda sluggish, but still pretty awesome!
Not very good as a transportation device, but seems tough enough to be used as a bulldozer.

Futakotamagawa River – Let’s Visit Tokyo 10 – AkihabaraNews

1 07 2009

From blog AkihabaraNews, a series of tokyo video tours that I’m a fan of!
Futakotamagawa riverside is a very typical anime scenario… fans will recognize. It’s a everyday life sight over there…

RX-78 Odaiba Gundam

1 07 2009

Some of my favorite blogs has been publishing stuff about a giant Gundam replica/statue that was being built at Odaiba, an artificial island close to Tokyo in Japan.
Been some months from the first news about it. In what seemed an incredibly fast speed, the project has already been finished, and had it’s first few presentations:

Turns out not only the Gundam RX-78 is a very detailed replica, but it also can move it’s head, and also gives a show with steam and lights involved.
