Whether you’re a douche trying to PWN friends at a paintball match, or you’re a police officer needing backup in a dangerous situation, here’s something to take a look at:

The SWAT Bot (Robotic Weapon), created by Inspector Bots is a “Mil-Sim A5 PaintBall Gun Mounted to a fully Upgraded, Brushless, 4WD, RC Vehicle”, according to YouTube description… and it was created for Law Enforcement.
Pretty awesome… ’till a cop points that at you for no good reason that is.

Microvision does a new take on display for gaming attaching a projector directly to a game gun controller:

I guess its pretty limited as to the places you’ll be able to use it, but very interesting idea anyways.
Using it in an oval room with all white walls and running on an Omni Directional Treadmill must be quite nice.

How many times in TV series and movies have you seen the police, FBI, counter terrorist units, private military companies and other forensics scenarios picking up crappy surveilance cameras, cellcam footage of photos and other very bad sources, applying some pixie magic state of the art impossible software and using it to scrape out information out of nowhere?

Tons of times I’m guessing will be the answer.
For all of you who knows too well scenes like that, dunk3d created this video compilation that is hilarious and very very sad at the same time.

Dunno if Matt Simmonds was inspirde by the recent ressurection of 3D technologies for movies with Avatar… maybe not since Deph uses the old style red/cyan 3D video thing.

Anyways, Deph is a vertical shooter (schmup), and it seems 3D is part of the gameplay. Sound pretty interesting!
The game is in development, so if you wanna follow it, keep an eye on Matt’s blog – I Heart the Sound of Waves!

BiDi Screen

The BiDi (Bi-Directional) Screen developed by MIT researchers might look a bit prototype-y but brings some interesting ideas:

IT features holographic display and the ability to interact with hand gestures in front of the screen, without the need of touching it.
Holography aside, having a touchscreen like device which wouldn’t require you to clean it every damn time would be pretty good, no? This isn’t it though…

Imagine you’re on vacation, on your way to China, on a plane, just capturing a video on your camera of the blue sky and beautiful clouds out there when suddenly you spot a rocket passing right next to your plane?
That’s what happened to this guy here:

Ok, maybe only the last part is right.. but still. I’d crap my pants off thinking the plane was being targeted!
