Microvision does a new take on display for gaming attaching a projector directly to a game gun controller:

I guess its pretty limited as to the places you’ll be able to use it, but very interesting idea anyways.
Using it in an oval room with all white walls and running on an Omni Directional Treadmill must be quite nice.
