Sos presents Firefly, a game with a crazy idea that shows why I keep a close watch on indie games:

The graphics are not cutting edge, but it presents an idea for a controller which I’d never think of: Using a candle to guide a firefly!
Chances are clumsy gamer could end up setting their houses on fire, but still, a very interesting idea!

When you think of playing a game on a table, besides the usual poker and stuff, for geeks there’s board based RPGs.
The most famous example of it is… yes, Dungeons & Dragons.
So here’s a Microsoft Surface powered Dungeons & Dragons proof of concept.
It was developed by the Surfacescapes team at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, and it’s awesome!
I’d probably mod it a bit to keep using real dices, since I don’t feel they can be replaced for virtual ones… but it’d be a real life saver to calculate all those distances, effects, and other stuff.
It’s more or less the same that Eye of Judgement did to card games, only a bit more appliable (given it’s not too hard for the DM to make those quests).

Ayrton Camargo is a brazilian photographer specialized in 360 photos.
In October 17th, 2009 another episode on the drug mob war happened in the north area (Zona Norte) of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
It makes a good counterpoint on the images shown on the 2016 Olympics videos. (I’m not saying that Rio is not what is shown in those videos, but there is another side to it too)
Ayrton was there to capture very intense images of public buses that were set on flames, something that happens quite oftenly during drug mob wars. Fortunately, most of the times the buses are empty, though several accidents involving passangers already happened in the past.

He tells the story of that Saturday, how everything happened. Unfortunately, it’s all in portuguese… but the images will tell you enough of the chaotic moments.

From the Cadbury Gorilla ad creator Juan Cabral, comes this new Sony Soundville ad:

Which is basically an installation of a myriad of sound speakers of all shapes and forms on the icelandic village of Seydisfjordur, March 2009.
I heard or read somewhere that public speaker systems on villages that has lots of snow and has very harsh winters are no uncommon, since they need the systems for weather bulletins and stuff, and it’s also good needed distraction.. so it’s all good.

When it comes to industrial robots, the challenge is making them fast and accurate.
Something ABB Robotics puts on display on this Fanta Can Challenge video:

Impressive!
Though I think hands and knives or lasers would look even awesome-er…
