Imagine the Segway, only more awesome! ![]()
It has to be Airboard, the personal hovercraft:
It’s not a complete hovercraft since it can’t cross lakes, but any plain enough surface is no obstacle for it!
Of course, as expected the price is also awesome: $14,000.
Yeah… I’m guessing I’ll just go back to my public transportation right now…

Toshiba has been working for 10 years on fuel cells, a fuel technology to replace batteries we all learned to live with.
Dynario is the first commercial result. It’s a charger the size of a Sony PSP that converts liquid methanol (sold in small bottles) into energy for your gadget.
It’s Japan only, not very cost effective (the methanol bottles are expensive and not allowed on flights), and it’s also still not compatible to all gadgets.
Still, it’s an exciting first step for an idea that could revolutionize the gadget industry.
Toshiba is already working on another version of the charger that could be distributed worldwide, and also on projects to make gadgets directly compatible with the technology.
The fuel cell idea is cleaner than our current technology of batteries, it’s more practical, performance can be boosted and cost effectiveness will come as soon as the system is adopted for lots of companies.
Imagine not having to buy extra batteries, not having to wait long hours for batteries to charge, not having to worry about finding an outlet so you can keep working on your laptop?

Created by the Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Laboratory at Stanford University this video shows the demo of a system installed in a common Volkswagen Passat for autonomous valet parking.
According to the video description, it uses “a night vision camera and cruise control radar (both currently available options on production vehicles) plus two small laser sensors to autonomously navigate parking lots, locate empty spaces, and park”.
Looks very interesting, and I guess when ready, the whole system won’t occupy the entire trunk space… hopefully.
Seems it still has a problem to avoid obstacles (like pedestrians for instance), so don’t expect it too soon.
There could be a number of different sollutions for autonomous valet parking (like installing RFID sensors for instance) but it’s nice to see something that works being tested out.

…or the full long name Attack of the Zombie Bikini Babes from Outer Space!!!, from Smule.
Pretty much self explainable.
From the Gizmodo post, you’re a “redneck armed with dual slingshots, firing rocks and raccoons at undead chicks in bikinis who will claw your eyes out if they touch you”.
It’s a 99 cent game on the app store. I’d say it’s a good value for b-movie fans’ money…

This spherical robot… or remote controlled ball uses gyroscopes for control.
And it’s very good to navigate irregular terrain and climb stuff.

Ok, maybe not completely indestructible… fire would completely kill it (probably). Or a stake to the heart.
Those don’t make this video any less impressive though.
I mean, really, can you believe that?
It’s part of the exciting stuff about OLEDs.
When you put a hammer, or a WiiMote through a convencional (LCD, CRT, Plasma) screen, things are bound to break because they are fragile.
OLEDs are almost like a thin layer of plastic. Thus, being this much resistant.
We’ll still have to wait some more for those to become affordable products, but it’ll be very worth it!
