With ancient Casio SK1 keyboard samples!
Wow… I had one of those Casio mini keyboards, and didn’t remember those sounds ’till I started watching the video… xD

Qualcomm showed up at IntoMobile event with this interesting new piece of technology regarding passive displays (think eBook readers):
It’s basically a color display that requires no backlighting and has a 30fps refresh rate.
I dunno much about it, and there are several questions to be solved before becoming a product… but if they can make this thing cheap, big, and with good resolution, this might be the end of monocromatic, lag-ish and dull eBook readers.
It’s really a breakthrough over several passive display problems!

Imagine having a cellphone with a battery that lasts 320 hours. And that it could also be recharged in seconds.
There’s a working prototype for that already, a cellphone that uses methanol as power source!

It’s still a prototype and long way to becoming a commercial product, and it’s still kinda big if you consider the whole cellphone is smaller than the battery itself… but the technology looks promising.
It’s specially interesting if you think they could make a small portable battery recharger using the same idea.
Could solve all your battery dying problems with a simple device… and it’d be also interesting to NOT have a methanol filled brick connected right next to stuff you put on your pocket, hold close to your ear, or keep on your lap.

Alley Cat is among the first games I’ve ever played on a PC, back in the 80s.

Along with some other titles like Digger.
Despite having a very limited size, resolution and colors to toy with, it was still a pretty nice game.
You were an alley cat (duh) that had to do standard alley cat stuff… or almost.
Run from dogs, break into houses to get giant cheese (?), enter small fish bowls that turned out to be huge and eat fish while avoiding eels, break birdcases and eat them, eating dogfood while avoinding waking up it’s owners, etc.
I also remember it was a game that after spending a long long time trying to figure out how to pass some “trials”, I finally discovered the “Alt” key had special functions…
If your desktop is anything like mine, it’s filled with tons of icons thrown at random here and there.
And it’s not because I’m not organized (ok, maybe a little bit), but mainly because I need quick access to them for different stuff I usually do everyday.

Fences is a free software that might be able to at least organize your desktop.
It basically create delimited (fenced) areas where you can throw your stuff in.
I still didn’t test it, but if works as promised it would be very nice to create areas like “blogging”, “university stuff”, “photos”, etc.
Get it at Stardock’s official Fences page!
