Spherical Robot

This spherical robot… or remote controlled ball uses gyroscopes for control.

And it’s very good to navigate irregular terrain and climb stuff.

Developed by Greg Schroll, who has an interesting (and geeky) life story.

Back to the robot, it’s a very interesting idea.
The shape itself makes much more sense on certain terrains (think kicking a ball on a grass field versus kicking a wooden cube for instance).
By the end of the video, it doesn’t look like a camera in the ball would be of much help, but just add some electronic components and a video processing software in there and the problem is solved.
