Cosplay Series – AniParana Matsuri 2009 (1/3)
This is a series featuring cosplay, cosplaying and cosplayers!
(I really loved the cute Rena-chan… best anime cosplayer on the convention IMHO)
Over the years, I have collected tons of anime, games and general cosplaying photos, so I decided to share them here.
Identification goes like this: “Anime/Game/Source Name” (“Character Name”) – “Cosplayer Name/Nick”.
Photos this time are all originals taken at AniParana Matsuri 2009, the first edition of an anime convention that took place on the city I’m currently living in.
It was organized by Yamato, the same company responsible for the largest anime conventions in Brazil (AnimeFriends, AnimeDreams, etc).
(PedoBear ready for action!)
Compared to other local events, it was about the same size as the biggest ones… but compared to other Yamato events, it was still kinda small and had few people. But that’s something to be expected from the first event… it’ll probably grow over the years.
Despite not having many cosplayers, the few that did were quality ones.
So I ended up splitting the post in 3 parts, and will post more than 1 pic for some of the cosplayers.
(a strange mix, I know.
Seems the mainstream cosplay is getting down a bit… I never expected to see a Higurashi cosplay here.
Problem in Brazil is that though there are lots of anime and manga enthusiasts, we are still lacking in number of titles.
I mean, big titles are coming, and slowly the anime collection is improving… but nothing even close to what US has.
And the problem is that the vast majority of convention attendees knows only few titles. But they are BIG fans of it.
(there’s a reason I’m writting the name like this – Google is unforgiving with certain words – I know what it really is like – if you wanna know more, check the Haado Gei posts!)
So what happens is: We have exclusive fan group rooms for specific animes like One Piece, Bleach and Naruto… I also saw a Nana fan group room at AnimeFriends. But the side effect is that cosplayers from less known animes gets less recognition, and I’m guessing less consideration from judges too.
(Cosplayer did a Lady Gaga – Poker Face mix on her presentation which is pretty nice because she looks like her!
(Updated with info given by cosplayer Eluiza and by commenter Cassol in the portuguese version of the post)
Another side effect is that we have lots of cosplayers not from anime and manga, but from movies and other culture icons.
It’s nice because it gets a broader public, and it’s fun to have a mixed event so it doesn’t get too tiring… but it also dillutes objectives, and it’s not uncommon for non-anime cosplayers to win the contests.
Anyways, I need your help to share this post with more people. If you have comments to make about the cosplayers, the photographs, or the convention, feel free to use the comment area!
And I also need help to solve the question marks. I gave up asking and writing down the cosplayers names… it’s kinda impossible to keep track in the middle of a convention like that. But I’m hoping they all come here to check their photos and then I’ll be glad to name them all!
Hope you liked those… will be posting the rest soon!
