Microsoft Surface – Dungeons & Dragons

When you think of playing a game on a table, besides the usual poker and stuff, for geeks there’s board based RPGs.
The most famous example of it is… yes, Dungeons & Dragons.
So here’s a Microsoft Surface powered Dungeons & Dragons proof of concept.

It was developed by the Surfacescapes team at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, and it’s awesome!
I’d probably mod it a bit to keep using real dices, since I don’t feel they can be replaced for virtual ones… but it’d be a real life saver to calculate all those distances, effects, and other stuff.
It’s more or less the same that Eye of Judgement did to card games, only a bit more appliable (given it’s not too hard for the DM to make those quests).

UPDATE: Here’s a new video with the current stage of gameplay!
