As I said on the Dragon Quest post, long time ago I was a real fan of console RPGs, but nowadays I don’t have enough patience or time to deal with them. My taste switched to more fast paced and casual games. (as in games I can play just a bit without having to follow a story up)
But here’s one game that just might break this habit and even force me to buy a current gen console:

3D Dot Game Heroes is an upcoming japanese game for the Playstation 3.
And as you can see from the clip, it’s an obvious tribute to several NES RPG games… like Dragon Quest and the first Legend of Zelda. Also, the best 8-bit pixelated graphics conversion to 3D I’ve ever seen… xD
I don’t know if this game will do much for new kids, but for us old kids it’s FREAKING AWESOME!!!
Problem is if this will ever be localized… I’m even kinda hoping it isn’t, because if so, I’ll have to shell out tons of money just to buy it. T_T

UPDATE: Well, it WILL be localized by Atlus (who else?), and I’m off to my bankrupcy… even more after watching the gameplay:

I dunno which are the exact RPGs this game is making a tribute/parody of, but Zelda and Dragon Quest are obvious titles, and since they are both my favorites (specially the NES games), I can’t avoid getting this one.
I played and had all original cartridges from: Zelda 1, 2 and 3, Dragon Warrior 1, 2 and 3. They were a big part of my fun childhood days…
