You can get the demo on Frontier Aja’s official Komajou Densetsu – Scarlet Symphony page (any of the three first links), but it might not work on your PC… it was developed for Japanese Windows OSs, so you need the language packs.

A known issue with humanoid robots is balance… very hard to maintain it’s balance while during complex tasks like climbing some stairs.
Despite not having the same shape, maybe the answer lies in this Switchblade Robot developed by engineers from the University of Californa – San Diego:
