Casio developed an interesting technology that is coming with the new Exilim line of digital cameras:

Basically, it replaces green screen techniques with a software that is able to recognize the background (or the static) portion of a video, “crop” a person off it, and paste it to another photo.
As I see it, doesn’t require any special hardware… it’s just an interesting software approach to create the effect.
